With today’s fast-paced environment and ever-changing technology, it is critical for organizations to establish a standards-based and secure identity foundation across all your systems and services. Knowing how to prioritize the many competing factors across your identity program, align those with the organization’s business objectives, and continuously deliver more value can be difficult. By taking this assessment we hope to move your program forward and give you actionable insights into securing your organization.

We utilize maturity levels to help our customers measure their programs against those of their peers. Select the maturity level below that best aligns with where you believe your organization should be, not based on the level you see yourself today. At the end of this assessment, we will display where you scored on each question versus where you want to be and provide ways for you to get there.
Target Maturity Level*
- Initial (Immature) At this level, we usually see organizations that have not yet started or are struggling to get their company buy-in for their identity initiatives. Manual, per system management of identities and their entitlements. There are no clean-up processes and no central view on given entitlements or accuracy, and little concept of movers and leavers.
- Developing (Starting-Up) At this level, we find defined, partially automated processes and point solutions to solve major technical problems. However, there is limited to no integration across systems. There are simple processes in place to manage the most at-risk systems but in general, most efforts are reactive instead of proactive. Organizations may have minimal support for Joiner/Mover/Leaver processes.
- Defined (Active) At this level, organizations are increasing their integrations and business-focus, especially around access requests and recertification. There is a core set of services the business revolves around for identity. The team is likely working on support for the extended enterprise with external users (partners, consumers, customers, etc.). Most audit findings have been closed and there is a plan to provide fast and efficient fulfillment of the remaining ones. Full support for Joiner/Mover/Leaver for employees and contractors.
- Managed (Pro-Active) At this level, we find a good integration of identity technologies with each other (i.e., Access Governance and Privileged Access Management). Access is driven through dynamic policy-based access controls that enable agile and digital transformation initiatives. The platform provides advanced analytics, management dashboards, and SIEM integrated for risk. The program is driven by KPIs and show the value returned to the business. The platform also supports support for hybrid cloud environments and non-human identities (i.e., bots, RPA, service accounts).
- Optimized (World Class) At this level, identity provides continuous improvement and integration of processes across the organization. The team has provided defined APIs and self-service portals for users and application owners. There are optimized policies, guidelines, and enforcement across the organization. The identity program offers advanced analytics and forensics, which provides integration with real-time security intelligence. Consistent services are deployed to on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. Additionally, the program is actively integrating devices into the platform to enable Zero Trust initiatives.
